The Login Page or Mylink home page is the first page you will see when you wish to access your Mylink account. New users wishing to open an account can follow the link to the registration page by clicking on Register. To gain access to your Mylink account you first need to enter your account/user name and password. This is known as 'logging in' or simply 'login'. For those new to any kind of password restricted account it is worth noting that when you type your password in it will be illegible. Instead of what you are typing each character is replaced by a single none alphanumeric character, usually '*', although it is dependent on the browser. This means that until you get used to entering your password it is very easy to make mistakes, and since you can't check exactly what you typed you may make frequent visits to the Login Error page. Once you have entered your user name and password just click on the button labelled 'Login' below the text edit fields. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer to access Mylink then you can simply press the return/enter key to login. Those using Netscape's browsers unfortunately have to click on the button, this is due to a bug in all Netscape's browsers which won't allow this short cut when there is more than one text edit field in an HTML form. If you don't have a Mylink account then you need to register first. This is simple to do and involves entering a few personal details and choosing a user name and password. All details entered are private and confidential and will not be passed on to any third parties, as they are for administration purposes only. If you can't login it may be that you entered your username or password incorrectly, if this is the case then you should get an error at the top of the page saying 'Sorry, Invalid Login Name or Password.' Take care that your username and password are typed correctly as these fields are case sensitive. If you cannot remember your password click on the link 'Forgot your password' which will take you to another page which asks you for your username and also your First and Last name that you signed up with, then press the 'Authenticate' button, this will take you to another page which has your password reminder question, which you specified when you signed up for your account, below this is a field where you can type in your answer to the password reminder question which you also specified when you signed up, and then click on the 'Get new password' button which will take you to another page which will have a new password on it. If you copy or write down this password and click on the 'login again' link it will take you back to the login page where you should enter your username and the new password by either typing it in exactly as it is or by pasting it into the field and pressing the login button. To change your password from the temporary password that was created, go to options and then preferences and then choose the 'Update Password' link. There will be three text fields on this page, If you put your password you generated before in the 'Enter your Old password' field and a new password of your choice in the 'Choose Your New Password' field and type the same password again in the 'Please Confirm Your New Password' field to make sure that the new password is correct. When you are sure that you want this password and that you will be able to remember it click the 'Save' button and your new password will be active, so that the next time you login, you can use your new password. |
